A little about dru yoga -
‘Dru’ comes from the Sanskrit word ‘dhruva’ which refers to the stillness experienced in dru yoga and dru meditation. During this stillness we are able to see and act from a point of clarity and inner calm.
Dru Yoga has its roots in hatha yoga and was introduced to the UK over twenty years ago. Dru yoga uses postures and moves to strengthen the field of energy surround the heart; the centre for transformation according to yogic circles.
The beautiful flowing sequences are practiced to music and there is a lot of tai chi like movements. With dru yoga, the movements are also fluid and quite balletic.
Dru yoga teaches you the classical postures or asanas, pranayama, the science of the breath, mudras, hand gestures, positive affirmations and empowering visualizations. Joints are kept relaxed and soft during movement which creates flexibility and a free flow of subtle energy. With dru yoga we like to include an energy block release (EBR) sequence as part of our lesson. These EBRs help to release tension physically, mentally and emotionally.
Dru yoga can be practiced at all levels of fitness. It is never too late to begin. To book your tailored yoga retreat, or any other retreat that includes yoga, please use the contact details below. We all look forward to welcoming you when you are ready to join us.
